Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Leatha Merculieff. Leatha is with the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, a native, non-profit health provider. Leatha is a top executive with the organization and Wrangell’s hospital administrator. Leatha tells us more about the transition, what has changed and what challenges SEARHC is facing. Leatha says SEARHC is looking to bring more long-term nurses to town and visiting, specialty doctors. Leatha also oversees the construction of the new hospital, which is slated to open 2021.
