Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For today’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Sarah Scambler of the Wrangell Public Libaray about the summer reading program. Reading is a skill kids are constantly learning. Sarah tells us that when kids don’t read during the summer, they can need up to six weeks of remedial work to get their reading level back on track.

The library’s summer reading program is open to students entering K-9 grades. The program is already underway and runs until July 29. Over a hundred prizes have been donated by the generous folks of Wrangell.
